EnergyAustralia Fights Shoefiti in Sydney, Australia

A power company in Sydney, Australia is addressing the local shoefiti problem:

EnergyAustralia is urging people to report shoes hanging from powerlines, saying it is important to remove any obstacle that could threaten public safety or the reliability of the power supply.

“Whatever the reason behind it, shoes over powerlines is simply another act of vandalism that can put the community and the electricity network at risk,” it said.

Power companies seem to vary in their willingness to remove shoefiti. This seems to come down to whether they believe the shoes have the potential to impact, as EnergyAustralia describes it, “the reliability of the power supply.”
