Shoefiti and Gangs in Philadelphia

The long road to medical school: Choleliths

In other news, ever since I learned that hanging pairs of shoes from telephone lines is a gang sign, I keep seeing fresh pairs of shoes hanging from various lines on my walk to school. As much as people lament the horrible awful hideous RACIST gentrification in my neighborhood, sometimes I think, “God, when is this neighborhood going to get GENTRIFIED already.” And then I could see manicured lawns instead of graffiti and shoes hanging from phone lines on my walk to school in the morning. Or at least maybe there would be occupants in some of the what-would-be-lovely boarded up crack houses that line the streets. Wouldn’t that be pleasant? I think yes. It probably would be.
