Nevada’s Old Shoe Tree - Hanging by the Hundreds
While some may see signs of nefarious activity when spotting shoes hanging from utility lines in the inner city, no one is likely coming to similar conclusions about shoes hanging from this tree in the Nevada desert:

Carol Anderson, of the blog Diary of an Adventerous Lady, dug up some history on this particular cottonwood tree:
I’ve since read that it is called “The Old Shoe Tree.” The tradition of
throwing shoes up is said to have started following an argument between
newlyweds, during which one tossed the other’s shoes into the tree.
When they reconciled, the other reciprocated; and folks have been
tossing their footwear into the tree ever since.
