Wilkes-Barre Gang Activity? What do the Shoes Tell Us?
Can cliques be gangs? Or are gangs a form of cliques? Beats me. Based on my reading the news story below from the Times Leader, I don’t think this Wilkes Barre, PA community has much of a gang problem.
Dana George, who is entering her senior year at the high school, said there Òcould be a gang presence, but none that IÕve seen.Ó
George said the only possible hints she has noticed suggesting a
gang element are shoes or sneakers hanging from power lines in the
Hazleton area. In school, students form cliques, but she doesnÕt
consider them gangs.
What do you think? Have you ever seen a clique act like a gang, or a gang act cliquish? What’s up with Wilkes Barre? Would you correlate shoefiti with gang activity if the only supporting evidence of gang activity was high school cliques?
